Greedy companies are polluting the world

Andy Preston

They're using their profile and big money influence to lobby politicians in order to evade rules about responsible business and recycling.

Mega-rich multi-national businesses use and sell around 500,000,000,000 plastic bottles a year - that's half a TRILLION!

Sadly, outrageously, that the number is projected to grow to 600,000,000,000 within just four years.

These companies refuse to recycle their own bottles.

Global brands such as Coca-Cola don't want to use recycled plastic because it isn't clear! As a result, a pitiful 7% of the world's plastic bottles are recycled. The remaining go into landfill, end up in the sea or get burnt.

So 465,000,000,000 new plastic bottles contaminate the world every year!

Plastic is useful and good for business. But the greed of big companies means it is also strangling the earth.

Research suggests that one in three cod and haddock caught in British waters contains visible plastic and that the average person who eats seafood consumes 11,000 tiny pieces of plastic each year.

Please help to put this right by doing one small thing: join 500,000 others by signing this petition.
