Charitable Restaurant

Andy Preston

The Fork in the Road is a unique concept - a formerly derelict building in central Middlesbrough has been brought back to life as a social enterprise project:

1. High end restaurant The Fork in the Road is a place of great food, ambience and opportunity. The charity-run restaurant offers training and job opportunities to those who need a helping hand - recovering addicts, ex-offenders and the long-term unemployed. The fit-out costs and working capital for this social enterprise came from the NHS and the charity I chair, CEO Sleepout.
2. Bar Zero plays an important role in Teesside's recovery scene. It doesn’t serve alcohol but it is great place to mix with friends and meet people. The bar can also be hired for private functions and community events.
